Serving children in crises and their communities is right at the heart of Changing Tomorrow Children’s Foundation.
At the village of Leratong, high in the Drakensberg
mountains of South Africa, God provided for the first Care Center At present the Base consists of a hall that is used for the community to meet in. It also houses a small library for scholars and serve as a place to store equipment until the garage is finished. There are three houses that can accommodate 40 people/children. One is temporarily used as Day Care until the building for that is complete. We also house visitors in them and provide a place for the sick of the village to recover in better conditions than the corrugated steel shacks many live in. The office/store room is also nearly complete, and will provide a safe place to store donated goods and supplies for the Day Care. Once completed a steel gate and roof between the office and house 1 will turn this area into the garage where our equipment can be stored. The last building to be constructed for time being will be the DayCare. At present the foundations has been poured and when time/weather permits we are making the bricks for the walls.
After completing the above, we do not see further construction at our base for the near future.
The Future Job Creation (URGENT)
This is something that has been on our hearts since day one. The people in Leratong are far from work. Most are old and all really needs some sort of project to earn an income with. We do need people with ideas, and more so people who can help make it reality within the constraints our location puts on any potential ideas.
Housing
We will continue to bless people from this area with better housing. Many families have parents and children living in a single room house. With the families providing the labour we will assist more families with the material to build houses suitable to raise their children in.
Cost per house is around $5-10 000, depending on the size of the family and their present living conditions
Day Care
We plan to have the DayCare building completed in the next 18 months
